Abeokuta – Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has approved the appointment of Alhaji (Prince) Shamsudeen Adebayo Apelogun as the Amirul Hajj for the 2026 pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
The governor also named Sheikh Zakariyah Ishaq Olorungbebe as Chairman of the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board to oversee administrative and operational activities for next year’s Hajj exercise.
Apelogun currently serves as the Asiwaju Adinni of Ogun State and Baba Adinni of Remoland. According to a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, the appointments form part of the government’s strategic preparations aimed at ensuring a smooth and well-coordinated pilgrimage for intending pilgrims from the state.
Governor Abiodun charged the newly appointed Amirul Hajj and board chairman to discharge their duties with diligence, integrity, and a high level of commitment. He emphasised the importance of effective leadership, coordination, and collaboration in guaranteeing the comfort, safety, and spiritual fulfilment of all pilgrims.
The state government reaffirmed its commitment to providing necessary support and institutional structures to ensure a hitch-free pilgrimage exercise.
