ENUGU – Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested a 24-year-old palm kernel dealer, Iziga Jude Ikechukwu, for allegedly abusing the Naira during a birthday celebration in Enugu State.
Ikechukwu, who is popularly known as “Easy-money,” was picked up by officials from the Enugu Zonal Directorate of the Commission on Saturday, February 28, 2026. His arrest followed the circulation of a viral video on social media in which he was seen spraying and mutilating Naira notes in a hotel room during his birthday party.
According to a statement by the anti-graft agency, the act is a clear violation of Section 21 of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act of 2007, which criminalises the abuse of the country’s legal tender.
Upon receiving the intelligence, the EFCC launched a preliminary investigation that led to the identification of the suspect’s identity and his residence near the timber market in Enugu-Ezike. Following his arrest, a search was conducted, and a sum of N81,700 was recovered from him. The commission suspects the money was part of the funds he was seen mutilating in the video.
The EFCC confirmed that the suspect will be charged in court as soon as the ongoing investigation is concluded.
